How this comic began

Here's the full story of why I started this comic in the first place! So here we go:

It all started back in grade 7 when I was a huge fan of comics. I loved reading Garfield, The Peanuts Gang, Calvin and Hobbes, etc...

So I decided to draw some comics of my own! Although... looking back at some of my old comic strips... I'm starting to question some of the comics that I made...

A comic from Grade 7

Wow... grade 7 me was brutal... Also I'm pretty sure I was looking for every possible excuse to use action words like "Ka-Pow" during that time... well anyways...

I stopped drawing comics for a while. But throughout high school I discovered several webcomics that I enjoyed and began reading/following them.

Fast forward a few years and there I was in the summer of 2020, doing online school, listening to my technical communication class and I thought to myself: hmm I should start a webcomic!

And so, being the very studious student that I am, during my all important, life changing, super valuable, online technical communication class, I began drawing my first digital comic err... I mean uhh... I was definitely uh... paying attention to class like the um... good student that I am... obviously...

School was going pretty rough for me at that time, you know... with online school, and a pandemic, and a heavy course load etc..., so I wanted it to have a positive feeling to it while also somewhat relating to what I was doing at the time. I was learning about electronics in one of my classes at that time so I decided to make a comic based on one of my most recent labs:

Then in the next technical communication class, I decided to start on another comic. (If you were my technical communication prof and you're reading this... then I'm joking, and I was definitely paying attention to your class... obviously...)

And the comic that I started in class later became this:

A throwback to when I used to take transit to school

I decided to show some of my friends these comics and told them that I wanted to start a webcomic. They were very encouraging.

I didn't really have any other comic ideas at the time, and school was getting very busy so I just went about doing classes as usual. Then one day during my online lab, I was very excited and fascinated by a circuit that I made so I went to show my brother!

You can see how just impressed he was about this. I found the conversation to be funny so I made a comic about it. And the next thing I did was I showed that comic to my brother:

Panel 1: Me: Look I made a comic. Brother: *looks unimpressed. Panel 2: Me: It's about the conversation we had last week. Brother: *still unimpressed. Panel 3: Me: This is me showing you my H-bridge. Brother: *same unimpressed expression. Panel 4: Me: Ad this is how impressed you were when you saw it! Brother: *same expression. Panel 5: Me: It's so cool right!?!? Brother: How do you have time for this? Don't you have homework?. Panel 6: Me: Well yes but this is fun!

As you can see, he was really impressed by my comic so this inspired me to write another one

I'm so glad to have a brother that is such an inspiration to my ideas.

But I realized that this joke would get old really fast so I needed some other content for my comics

From these conversations with my brother, and the previous comics that I drew, I realized that a common theme between all of these was appreciating or being fascinated by little things and ideas. And they all somewhat revolved around me being a student. So I decided to make that my theme: A student who enjoys the little things in life!

I wanted to keep to a regular posting schedule, so I decided to wait for a less busy time in life to officially release my new comic. And so a few weeks after summer school ended, I decided to officially launch my webcomic!

At first I launched my webcomic on my website and a Facebook page for simplicity since it was easy to schedule posts there. Some of my friends suggested getting an Instagram page so a few months later I created an Instagram page as well!

Oh and did I mention that around that same time I was finally able to impress my brother with something I did? Yay! :D

And that is the story of how this webcomic began.

Now I hope to continue celebrating the small victories, appreciating the simple things in life, and spreading positivity and joy through my comics (and hopefully survive school too!)

Thanks for reading! And thanks for being a fan! :D
